Philip Denton Bio

Mr. Philip Denton has been making wonderful music at Skyview High School since 2006. He has a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree from The University of Kansas, an NCATE Accredited School. While at KU, he worked with world renowned teachers and directors including Simon Carrington (founder and former member of The Kings Singers), Dr. Paul Tucker (KU Director of Choirs), Dr. Gary Wiedenaar (CWU Director of Choirs), Pam Bushouse (former Choir Director at Free State High School), and Janeal Krehbiel (Director of the Lawrence Children’s Choir).
Since his arrival at Skyview, he has directed many different music programs, including two years of guitar, four years of orchestra, eight years of drama, and ten years of choir. While Mr. Denton enjoys teaching all different kinds of performing arts, his real talent lies in Choral Direction and Leadership. Under his tutelage at Skyview, the choir program has seen great growth in maturity of both vocal tone and social stability for students. Mr. Denton emphasizes the ability of all people to learn to sing, and helps all Skyview music students push past their limits to become better musicians and people.
